Trinidad & Tobago
Leading the Way to Europe

(January 2010) Kisserup designed and delivered a training program consisting of two EPA Awareness Workshops for The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) in Trinidad and Tobago
www.tradeind.gov.tt The primary objectives of these workshops were to provide an overview on exporting both goods and services under the CARIFORUM/EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) providing participants with the basic principles of exporting to the EU, with a specific focus on pre-selected export markets. Participants learned how to evaluate market opportunities, conduct research, define payment terms, and logistics required to enter the identified markets. The workshops were summarized by one participant: “For new exporters it provides critical fundamentals that should be undertaken at the beginning of a new market access initiative. This is key to getting it right the first time. Many of us who started without doing the basics, have experienced disadvantages and lost money. Don’t make the same mistake” Mr. Ramlachan, TYG Manufacturing, Trinidad & Tobago.

Direct Freight Service to Europe |
Until recently, those exporters who were sending “less than container load” (LCL) quantities of their products to |

|
Europe had only two expensive options available: The exporter could attempt to airfreight the product to Europe directly from Atlantic Canada at a significant premium, or truck the product west to major consolidation centres inland where it could be sent east again at the cost of additional time and money. This situation has now changed for the better.
Now, Exporters in Atlantic Canada have prime access to a direct weekly consolidation from Halifax to Mainland Europe. |

and more flexible in selling shelf stable products into the European market. The new service is the result of a unique partnership between the Province of NS, the Halifax Port Authority and master loader Kuehne + Nagel.Reliable and easy to access, the service can be booked as a common user service through any freight forwarder or directly by the exporter. Value added documentation and comprehensive delivery services throughout Europe can be arranged as part of the service. For more details and/or booking information:
