The Canada-CARICOM Expert Deployment Mechanism (CCEDM) project provides technical assistance (TA) to CARICOM countries to build the capacity of public institutions and support areas including policy development and implementation, finance, digitalization, human resources, gender, environment, trade, and economic diversification.
Under this program, Kisserup was contracted to provide technical assistance with the purpose of promoting resilient economic and social growth in Barbados; institutional strengthening of Barbados’s Business Support Organizations (BSOs); and building the capacity of BSOs and private sector organizations in trade development and digitalization. The focus of this TA was placed on MSMEs owned/led by women and other underrepresented minorities.
The Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and its Digital Societies Committee were selected to be the primary BSO beneficiary for this technical assistance along with participating member companies
Examples of activities performed during this TA included a needs assessment, the development of statements of work, a capacity building workshop focused on digital readiness, B2B meetings for participating member companies, and the creation of a project landing page for BCCI, its members and participating international companies.
Ultimately, this technical assistance allowed for the selected BSO, and the BCCI Digital Societies Committee , to enhance their existing expertise in digital readiness to better support their expansive membership while enabling businesses from Barbados to virtually meet and develop enhanced digital capacities through the creation of working relationships with companies from Canada.
