OUR STORY

Kisserup International Trade Roots was founded in in Nova Scotia, Canada in 1998. The name “Kisserup” comes from the small Danish village where Pernille grew up, located 50 kilometres from Copenhagen, Denmark, Europe.

​The Kisserup sign utilized throughout our website and in our company profile is the actual sign from the village of Kisserup in Denmark – true to the roots and the origin of our company.

When founding Kisserup, deep roots from the past, the present and the future played a role. Pernille’s family roots trace back as far as the year 875 A.D.

​Kisserup opened an European office in Denmark in 2008 and an office in the Arctic, in Nuuk, Greenland in 2016. From these offices, Kisserup has worked on projects in over 90 countries worldwide. We employ 7 different nationalities among our staff and are consequently multiculturally oriented and have a wealth of language capabilities to deliver project in too. ​

In order to support the core principle in true capacity building, Kisserup works with local partners in any country we are engaged in. This has also resulted in a huge roster of local Sub Matter Experts who works with us on an ongoing basis.

HOW WE WORK

Kisserup supports the development of sustainable livelihoods and upwards social mobility for entrepreneurs through the creation of sustainable trade partnerships for all. A gender lens is applied to projects as is an instrument for measuring impact on all project that we manage and deliver. Kisserup’s project work is funded primarily by international development organizations, Governments, public and private business support organizations, as well as trade and industry associations that foster sustainable and inclusive economic growth. We focus on serving a cluster of beneficiaries (entrepreneurs, SMEs, MSMEs) on behalf of our clients.

OUR APPROACH

We do not work on retainers nor on a commission basis. This ensures that our team is free from conflicts of interest and guarantees equal treatment and quality of services for all participants, project partners and donors.

Kisserup’s cluster approach allows us to assist a wide range of enterprises and organizations while working with one or more actors. We offer a wide range of services that focus on sustainable and inclusive growth, market analysis, trade research, feasibility studies, export promotion activities, tailored training/facilitation, e-trade and Social commerce. We strive to focus on achieving economic nationalism and creating interdependence in the countries where we work, creating impact via knowledge transfer and leaving beneficiaries more resilient.
