Kisserup International Trade Roots served as an independent contractor tasked with appraising a gender and trade project in CARICOM. The project aimed to conduct systematic research on the intersection of trade and gender in CARICOM states and enhance the capacity to integrate gender into trade policy.
As independent consultants, Kisserup’s key experts were responsible for reviewing, verifying, and clarifying the project’s objectives, along with their technical and economic justifications. Kisserup consultants were also responsible for validating expected project outcome and impact with regional stakeholders. This ensured that the project met the criteria for assessment and approval by the donor.
The appraisal methodology encompassed four levels:

- Policy and strategic level: Evaluating the project concept and rationale to determine its acceptability and justification, considering CDB gender policy and CARICOM gender policies.
- Financial and economic level: Analyzing the financial soundness of the project.
- Impact and sustainability level: Assessing the socio-economic and gender acceptability of the project and determining its long-term sustainability for the targeted beneficiary group.
- Implementation level: Evaluating the operational elements of the project.
