The Conference Board of Canada contracted Kisserup under the Canada-Americas Trade-Related Technical Assistance (CATRTA) Program for the sub-project Building the Capacity of PROEXPORT and Colombian SMEs to Successfully Export to Canada. The Trade Promotion and Capacity Building sub-project was launched as a pilot sub-project through PROEXPORT Colombia, the Colombian Government Trade Promotion Organization. This trade promotion sub-project was developed and implemented in collaboration with PROEXPORT to further encourage knowledge transfer, capacity building and strengthen the export promotion expertise for PROEXPORT staff and Colombian SMEs to maximize the possibility of successful export promotion to the Canadian market under the Canada-Colombia Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA).
Accordingly, Kisserup designed and implemented the sub-project by promoting and enhancing the international export efforts of Colombian SMEs by providing an export promotion educational training program, international matchmaking opportunities and market access that supported export development to Canada and built capacity in PROEXPORT staff and the export readiness for Colombian companies, with a particular focus on SMEs and women entrepreneurs.
As this project entailed consulting numerous different stakeholders, this in return led to the development of: Train-the-Trainer curriculum design; the facilitation of workshops with PROEXPORT staff in four cities in Colombia, curriculum design, and delivery of Export Rallies as well as training sessions in four Colombian cities.
The results included participation from over 360 Colombian SMEs, and the training of PROEXPORT staff specifically on how to prepare prospective buyers lists with approximately 600 prospective buyers identified in preparation for a B2B matchmaking program.
