Kisserup was contracted to carry out a technical assistance in trade and investment policy to introduce intersectional gender-based analysis and principles of inclusiveness to trade policymaking – based on the Canadian model of Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+) applied to trade policy - as well as to identify barriers, to the participation of underrepresented groups in Paraguay.
The immediate outcome of the intervention was a gained knowledge by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in Paraguay on the GBA+ methodology and application in trade and investment policy. Consequentially, the ability the Paraguayan government was enhanced and strengthened, to implement and measure legislation, regulations, policies and/or standards that support inclusive trade and investment measures in a potential trade agreement with Canada.
